A climate strategy and assessment methodology for UNOPS

UNOPS (United Nations Office for Project Services) provides infrastructure, procurement and project management services to help build the future.

To support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, UNOPS respond to partners’ needs and help increase the effectiveness of peace and security, humanitarian and development projects around the world.

Given its vast procurement volumes of goods, services and works, there is large potential for climate change mitigation in UNOPS’ projects. Taking measure and ultimately reducing greenhouse gas emissions in UNOPS’s projects, facilities and operations, requires the development of a methodological framework for assessing their carbon footprint and identifying mitigation options.

Under this project, Compassi is collaborating with UNEP CCC to propose potential methodological approaches for measuring GHG emissions of UNOPS’ infrastructure and procurement activities.
