Navigating the transition together
Planet Earth is seeing a transformation like never before. Fast and disruptive changes in the human society are destabilizing the environment as we know it. This in turn undermines the stability of our society.
Multiple planetary boundaries are being breached, with the resulting environmental crisis touching all humans and living beings, regardless of who they are and where they live. Climate change in particular is recognized as a major threat to society.
A rethinking of our society and ourselves is due, and largely undergoing. These can be difficult times as the challenges that we are facing are inevitably touching us in increasingly interconnected ways. Finding a decent level of order to face the unavoidable chaos is necessary, to navigate the incoming changes in harmony and get through them stronger than ever.
Compassi (from “com-” together, and “passi” steps/journey) develops, applies, and teaches approaches that orient institutions and individuals on the journey toward sustainability.

The three gears of transformation, and Compassi’s focus
Transformations happen thanks to changes in three spheres: the practical sphere (of technology and practical behaviors), the political-economic sphere (of the political and economic systems in place), and the inner sphere (of the mindsets, beliefs, values that we hold).
At Compassi, we like to represent this using gears: three gears, connected with each other, rotating to produce change. A transformation at different levels, always working simultaneously as one and creating change at different levels: in the practical material realm of things, in the realm of structures, and in the inside realm of thoughts and feelings.
This creates constant change and it is not easy at times to know whether the direction is the correct one, which can bring confusion, and slow down, if not halter, this process.
Through its work, Compassi aims to smoothen these challenges by bringing clarity around the impacts that the transformation brings.
Rooted in Life Cycle Assessment, Compassi’s approach generates a network of metrics that can help understand environmental impact through different lenses, which allows you to navigate decarbonization (as well as other environmental challenges) with a trustable compass in your hand.
